Sport and Exercise Science: Find Articles

Check both the A-Z list of Electronic Journals and the GU Library Catalog when searching for a periodical by title.

When prompted to login, enter your 14-digit GU ID number found on your GU ID card.

If you don't have a GU ID Card, your login number should be 24511 followed by the 9-digit number you use to log in to D2L.

Some things to remember when searching for a journal article:

1. Be sure to mark the "Peer-Reviewed" box in EBSCO if you are looking for scholarly articles.
2. Use the database you are searching to find "Subjects" or "Descriptors" for your topic keywords.  For more information on this check out the Research Strategies Workshops.
3. Some articles will be available in PDF or HTML format and can be downloaded or emailed to yourself.
4. If full text isn't available, be sure to click on the "Get This" button to see if the article is in full text from another source.
5. Anything not available in full text can be requested via Interlibrary Loan.
6. Interlibrary Loans can take from 2 days to 2 weeks to arrive, or for you to receive notification that the article request cannot be filled.

A search in our Library Catalog will indicate if we own a periodical title – Do a title search by the name of the periodical (NOT the article title).

Current Periodicals – the most recent 4 issues are kept on the 2nd floor near the computer lab.

Older Periodicals – other periodical issues are kept on the 4th floor alphabetically by the title of the periodical. Microfiche/Microfilm are located in cabinets behind the elevator on the second floor.

When searching for articles and essays in Sport and Exercise Science, begin with the EBSCO Academic Search Complete at the top of this list. Refer to the Search Tips tab for searching info.

Remember that databases index many journals, not just those available in this Library.
